Meet some of our clients who receive Food From The Heart....

Nancy Boyer "… The visiting nurse said "I’ve heard about a grass roots program, I believe it's called Food From The Heart – would you be interested? "… at the time I couldn't get up and walk from the kitchen to the living room all in one day. She suggested I have someone come over…

I think whoever cooks, they must be an ex-chef. I'm very very pleased with this program – I'd love to see more people who need it, get it. The food is made with love, you can tell...." (A few excerpts from her interview.)

"Dearest FOOD ANGELS,
I would like to express my incredible GRATITUDE, THANKS, and LOVE to all of you there participating in this program!!! To receive delicious food that is already cooked is such a miracle to me as I have a neurological disease that does not allow me to stand long enough to do so for myself. Before you all, it was nutrition bars, frozen food and whatever I could eat raw. It is a miracle to me that there are people out there so caring as to give of their precious time so that some of us can receive this great gift of cooked food! I still can't believe it and I've been on the program for over a month now. So . . . many many blessings to all of you there and may your lives be filled with incredible Joy and Love . . . "

"I am a volunteer with Food From The Heart. Every Wednesday we dice and chop and stir and slice and package and send it all off to our clients in need. Three weeks ago this routine changed radically for me. I fell hiking and broke my leg in several places.

Now Food From The Heart delivers to me. I had no idea what a heart-warming experience it is to be on the receiving end. These people are truly angels, who not only nourish my body, but also comfort my heart and spirit. I will remember and treasure this kindness for the rest of my life."

- Dale Ann Gage, Santa Barbara

"I so look forward to my Wednesday delivery of wonderful food. It's like Christmas with a bag from Julia Child. It's a gourmet treat! The dessert usually goes first, a real luxury, and often, still warm.

I save the weekly menus for the day when I can shop and cook again. My favorites are highlighted, and the taste and presentation mentally recorded for future meals.

You not only feed me but teach me to cook healthy food combinations, creative dishes, and foods that I used to dislike, I now love. I never liked meat much, but yours is so moist and perfectly seasoned.

The salads are beautiful, nutritious and a real treat. The soups wonderfully flavorful and the desserts to die for. I am extremely grateful! Thank You"
- L.M.

Esther and Bruce "My name is Bruce Turner, son of Esther Turner. We have been blessed with your service for several weeks now, and wish to thank you.

God Bless You All !!!! This has been a real tough time, FFTH has been a Godsend during this......"

- Bruce S. Turner - Col. USMC (Ret.), Goleta

Jim "I don't like taking charity, but I can't cook for myself anymore. I run out of air. I think the food is great. I get three good meals out of it. I like Robin's meals. It's down to earth cooking - home-cooking without frills."

- Jim, Santa Barbara

Ann Dear Angels at "Food From the Heart":
At last I can write and tell you of my appreciation and gratitude.
For the last few months I have been convalescing and have had a hard time standing to prepare my meals. I cannot begin to express how helpful your organization has been in setting me on the road to recovery.
The prepared meals have been colorful, interesting, appetizing, nutritious and completely delicious. I eat every morsel of food -- nothing is ever wasted and it lasts me for a number of days. It is so wonderful to have fresh, hot food delivered to your door when you can barely get out of bed.
The dishes are always varied and very appealing. One of my favorites is the home- made hearty soup -- that is always scrumptious and usually the first thing to go. The pastas are delicious (especially the "Cheese Lasagna" ), and the salads are always fresh, crisp and interesting. The meat dishes are very nicely prepared and balanced with a nice array of vegetables and starch, but never over-cooked (a particular preference of mine)-- I especially liked the "Turkey/Cheese Enchilada" and the "Curried Chicken w/ Vegetables and Almonds". Since I am a person who prefers fresh and nutritious food, I can greatly appreciate and am amazed at the quality of the food itself in addition to the preparation. The vegetarian dishes are extremely tasty and I particularly like the "Tofu, Çilantro Pesto & Rice" dish. I am also a fish-lover and am delighted when you surprise me with jumbo shrimp and salmon steaks -- I feel so completely spoiled by you "Kitchen Angels" and that is another way you have helped me to recover, by putting in that extra effort to make a quality product that reflects a lot of careful planning.
In closing, I must mention that the love in which the food is delivered is so wonderful. Sometimes I even get a big hug, which really goes a long way. It is so wonderful to know that while you are sick, there are people silently working and getting that message to you that people do really care, which, of course, helps immeasurably in the healing process. God bless you all and thank you so very much.
Sincerely,
- Ann R., Santa Barbara

Food For Cliff "I urge the community to embrace and support "Food From The Heart". I don't know what I would do without their help. My health does not permit me to plan and prepare meals without feeling nauseous. Having meals delivered allows me to reheat them as needed. This non-profit organization makes a difference in our community. The volunteers that cook and deliver the great tasting food are some of the kindest people in town. This truly is food from the heart."
